Frontier GoWild Ski Resorts You Can Actually Reach This Winter
Updated: 3 days ago
Okay so my Frontier GoWild national parks post has basically been carrying this whole website, which tells me a lot of you are sitting on a GoWild pass and trying to figure out what to do with it. Frontier dropped the 2026 GoWild Fall and Winter Pass, and the first thing I thought was: ski trips.
I live in Georgetown, Colorado, right off I-70, so I have opinions about ski traffic (so many opinions). But this post is for everyone who does not have a mountain in their backyard and wants to fly into one for a penny plus taxes.
Below is every ski resort I could match to an airport Frontier currently flies to, how long the drive is from that airport, and which ski pass works there (Epic, Ikon, Indy, Mountain Collective, Power Pass, Powder Alliance).
🗺️I also built a free spreadsheet of all of it, the same way I did for the national parks and an interactive map, which I'm very proud of I must say.

GoWild Ski Airports at a Glance
Denver (DEN): Arapahoe Basin, Loveland, Winter Park, Eldora, Keystone, Copper, Breckenridge, Vail, Beaver Creek, Steamboat, plus Aspen Snowmass and Crested Butte as road trips
Salt Lake City (SLC): Park City, Deer Valley, Alta, Snowbird, Brighton, Solitude, Snowbasin, Powder Mountain, Sundance, all around an hour or under
Reno (RNO): Mt. Rose, Northstar, Sugar Bowl, Palisades Tahoe, Heavenly, Kirkwood, Sierra-at-Tahoe
Boise (BOI): Bogus Basin, Tamarack, Sun Valley, Brundage
Seattle (SEA) and Portland (PDX): Snoqualmie, Crystal, Stevens Pass, Timberline, Mt. Hood Meadows, Mt. Bachelor
Las Vegas, Ontario, Phoenix, El Paso: Lee Canyon, Brian Head, Mountain High, Snow Valley, Big Bear, Arizona Snowbowl, Ski Apache
East and Midwest: Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Boston, Hartford, New York (LGA), Syracuse, Buffalo, Washington (DCA), Richmond, Knoxville, Minneapolis, Detroit, Grand Rapids
What the 2026 GoWild Fall and Winter Pass Covers
Here is what Frontier lists for this pass as of late September 2026. Always double check the GoWild pass page before you buy, because Frontier changes pricing and rules without much warning.
Travel window: August 4, 2026 through February 28, 2027
Price: Frontier's page shows $249 right now. The launch price was $199 through August 17.
Fares: $0.01 per flight segment plus taxes and fees. Frontier says domestic taxes and fees start around $14.90 per person, per flight.
Booking window: domestic flights book the day before departure. International flights open 10 days out.
Not included: bags and seat assignments
The pass auto-renews, so put a reminder in your phone if you do not want that
GoWild Blackout Dates During Ski Season
These are the blackout dates Frontier lists for the Fall and Winter Pass that land in ski season:
November 2026: 24 to 25, 28 to 30
December 2026: 19 to 24, 26 to 31
January 2027: 1 to 3, 14 to 15, 18
February 2027: 11 to 12, 15
🛫
So Thanksgiving weekend, basically all of the holidays, MLK weekend, and Presidents Day weekend are out. Midweek January and early February are where this pass shines for skiing. The pass also ends February 28, so March spring skiing is outside this one (the annual GoWild pass covers through April 30, 2027).
How to Actually Plan a Ski Trip on GoWild
GoWild and ski trips work, but you have to plan around the day-before booking rule. Here is how I would do it.
Plan for the flight home to fall apart. You cannot book your return until the day before, so have a backup date or a paid fare in mind.
Think about travel insurance if you are putting real money into lodging and lift tickets. SafetyWing and World Nomads both sell it. Read what each plan says about missed or cancelled flights before you buy.
Skis count as a checked bag. If you fly with your own, get a padded ski bag. Frontier's FAQ says golf and ski gear are exempt from oversize fees, so a ski bag is charged at the regular checked bag price. Renting skis at the resort skips the bag fee entirely.
Book refundable lodging. If your flight does not open up, you want to be able to cancel. Booking.com has a free cancellation filter for exactly this.
Match the airport to your ski pass. If you have Epic, Denver, Salt Lake, and Reno all put you near Epic mountains. If you have Ikon, Salt Lake City is stacked. More on this below.
Rent a car with snow tires or AWD for the mountain roads, especially anything on I-70 or in the Cottonwood canyons. You can compare rental cars on Booking.com or Rentalcars.com.
If you would rather not drive the canyons at all, you can book an airport taxi on Booking.com, and there are shuttle companies running from SLC up to the Cottonwood Canyon resorts and Park City.
What to Pack for a GoWild Ski Trip
The GoWild pass does not include bags, so packing light saves you money on every flight. Here is what is worth bringing.
A small pack that works as your personal item and your ski day pack. The Osprey Tempest 22L works for this.
A warm midlayer you can wear on the plane so it does not take up bag space. Something like the Patagonia Synchilla quarter button pullover is perfect.
Base layers and ski socks. These pack small, so bring your own even if you rent skis.
Goggles and a helmet. Goggles are worth owning even if you rent everything else.
Hand warmers for the cold chair rides.
A water bottle. You are going up to altitude, and staying hydrated matters.
Denver (DEN) Ski Resorts on GoWild
Denver is a Frontier hub, so it has a ton of GoWild routes into it. Drive times below are clear-road estimates from Rome2Rio. Add real time for I-70 on a powder weekend (I say this as someone who lives on it).
If you are going to any resort in Summit County, you do not need a car. They have the Colorado Bustang that goes from Union Station (which connects directly to the airport) for about $20, with Wifi, heat, gear storage, etc. and it will drop you off in Frisco. From that major bus station, you can take any bus in Summit County for FREE. And yes, every resort has a free bus that goes to it. Summit County is your best bet for not needing a car, and cheap hotels like La Quintas and Marriott's.
Arapahoe Basin
About 1 hour 56 minutes from DEN. Ikon Pass, unlimited. A-Basin also went unlimited on the Ikon Base Pass for 2026-27. This one you need to reserve parking in advance, so just showing up is not an option you need to PLAN. Also you need a car or to stay in Summit County and then you can catch a free bus and you don't have to worry about the parking situation at all!
Eldora Mountain Resort
About 1 hour 23 minutes from DEN, and 21 miles from Boulder. Ikon Pass, unlimited. I've literally never been here. I wouldn't call it a destination resort....
Loveland Ski Area
About 1.5 hours from DEN, off I-70. Indy Pass and Powder Alliance. Loveland is known for free cat skiing along the Divide.
This is my personal favorite resort in Colorado. Privately owned, and not overly crowded. If you're looking for a more local experience while still skiing mitigated 13,000ft peaks, this is it. As of last year they don't have a shuttle or bus so you do need to rent a car, but you can stay in Historic Goergetown at a locally owned hotel for a real Hallmark Ski Trip experieince.
Winter Park Resort
About 1 hour 50 minutes from DEN. Ikon Pass, unlimited.
Keystone Resort
About 1 hour 54 minutes from DEN. Epic Pass, unlimited. Keystone runs night skiing, which is great if you land midday. They also have free buses and you can get all the way from the airport to Summit County and the ski areas by bus.
Copper Mountain
About 1 hour 52 minutes from DEN. Ikon Pass, unlimited.
Breckenridge Ski Resort
About 2 hours 5 minutes from DEN. Epic Pass, unlimited. Breck has five peaks and a historic downtown, so it works if you want a town to stay in. Look for places to stay in Breckenridge with free cancellation in case your flight changes. This is a real ski town with nightlife. If you're looking for an Aspen Extreme type experience, come here.
Vail
About 2 hours 13 minutes from DEN. Epic Pass, unlimited. People who aren't rich enough for Aspen ski here. But the terrain is the best in the state. the Legendary Back Bowls are Legendary for a reason.
Beaver Creek
About 2 hours 28 minutes from DEN. Epic Pass, unlimited. Chill, easy terrain, aspen skiing.
Ski Cooper
About 2 hours 31 minutes from DEN, 10 miles north of Leadville on Tennessee Pass. Powder Alliance. This is a tiny tiny family friendly hill that you take a kid to. This is not your destination resort.
Steamboat
About 3 hours 29 minutes from DEN. Ikon Pass, unlimited. Amazing skiing, but far from the airport.
Aspen Snowmass
About 4 hours 22 minutes from DEN to Snowmass Village. Ikon Pass (7 days) and Mountain Collective (2 days). Snowmass is back on the Ikon Base Pass for 2026-27.
Crested Butte Mountain Resort
About 4 hours 53 minutes from DEN. Epic Pass, unlimited. This is a road trip, not a day trip.
Taos Ski Valley and Telluride (Road Trip Extensions)
If you want to turn a Denver landing into a real road trip, Taos Ski Valley is about 5 hours 49 minutes from DEN (Ikon 7 days, Mountain Collective) and Telluride is about 7 hours 9 minutes (Epic, up to 7 days as a partner resort). Same idea as stretching a Denver national park trip out to Mesa Verde.

🛫 Salt Lake City (SLC) Ski Resorts on GoWild
SLC is the dream GoWild ski airport. Every resort here except Jackson Hole is about an hour or under from the terminal, which means you can land in the morning and still get turns in. You can base in Salt Lake City and drive up the canyons each day, or book lodging in Park City and ski from there.
As someone who has done the drive up every day thing for a trip, let me tell you you better love traffic. Its one 2 lane road going all the way in and everyone going skiing at any resort has to take it. It crawls. And the town at the bottom is very opposed to a gondola being put it that would eliminate the heavy vehicle traffic. For my next trip, I will be staying on-mountain. Also, Interlock could happen where the roads are closed due to snow and you are stuck at the ski resort (seriously), and if that happens and you don't have a room you get a nice cot in the cafeteria so....I'll be staying near the resorts next time.
Park City Mountain
About 40 minutes from SLC. Epic Pass, unlimited.
Deer Valley Resort
About 47 minutes from SLC. Ikon Pass, 7 days. Deer Valley is skiers only, no snowboards.
Alta Ski Area
About 43 minutes from SLC in Little Cottonwood Canyon. Ikon Pass (7 days, shared with Snowbird) and Mountain Collective (2 days).
Snowbird
About 43 minutes from SLC, right next door to Alta. Ikon Pass (7 days, shared with Alta) and Mountain Collective (2 days).
Brighton Resort
About 49 minutes from SLC in Big Cottonwood Canyon. Ikon Pass, 7 days.
Solitude Mountain Resort
About 46 minutes from SLC. Ikon Pass, unlimited.
Snowbasin Resort
About 53 minutes from SLC. Ikon Pass (7 days) and Mountain Collective (2 days).
Powder Mountain
Within an hour of SLC, in Eden. It is not on Epic, Ikon, or Mountain Collective. Use a Powder Mountain pass or the Ski Utah Gold or Yeti Pass.
Sundance Mountain Resort
About 1 hour from SLC. Also a resort pass or Ski Utah Gold or Yeti Pass situation.
Jackson Hole (Road Trip Extension)
About 5 hours 19 minutes of driving from SLC. Ikon Pass (7 days) and Mountain Collective (2 days). Frontier does not fly into Jackson, so this is the GoWild way in.
🛫 Reno (RNO) and Lake Tahoe Ski Resorts on GoWild
Reno is the Frontier airport for Lake Tahoe. Pick your Lake Tahoe lodging based on which resorts you want, since the lake is big and the drive around it takes time.
Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe
About 28 minutes from RNO, on the Nevada side. Mt. Rose sells its own season passes and is not on the big multi-resort passes.
Northstar California
About 50 minutes from RNO. Epic Pass, unlimited.
Sugar Bowl
About 59 minutes from RNO. Mountain Collective (2 days).
Palisades Tahoe
About 1 hour from RNO. Ikon Pass, unlimited.
Heavenly
About 1 hour 13 minutes from RNO, sitting on the California and Nevada state line. Epic Pass, unlimited.
Kirkwood
About 1 hour 35 minutes from RNO. Epic Pass, unlimited.
Sierra-at-Tahoe
About 1 hour 38 minutes from RNO. Ikon Pass (7 days) and Powder Alliance. Sierra is celebrating its 80th season in 2026-27.
🛫Boise (BOI) Ski Resorts on GoWild
Bogus Basin
About 43 minutes from BOI. Bogus Basin is a nonprofit mountain recreation area. Powder Alliance.
Tamarack Resort
About 2 hours 28 minutes from BOI. Indy Pass (2 days), and Tamarack joined the Ikon Pass 2-day tier for 2026-27.
Sun Valley
About 2 hours 41 minutes from BOI. Ikon Pass (7 days) and Mountain Collective (2 days).
Brundage Mountain
About 2 hours 51 minutes from BOI, near McCall. Indy Pass (2 days).
🛫 Seattle (SEA) Ski Resorts on GoWild
The Summit at Snoqualmie
About 1 hour 11 minutes from SEA. Ikon Pass, 7 days.
Crystal Mountain
About 1 hour 29 minutes from SEA. Ikon Pass, unlimited.
Stevens Pass
About 1 hour 51 minutes from SEA. Epic Pass, unlimited.
🛫 Portland (PDX) Ski Resorts on GoWild
Timberline Lodge
About 1 hour 23 minutes from PDX, up on Mt. Hood. Powder Alliance.
Mt. Hood Meadows
About 1.5 hours from PDX. Indy Pass (2 days).
Mt. Bachelor
About 4 hours 11 minutes from PDX, outside Bend. Ikon Pass, 7 days.
🛫 Southwest Ski Resorts on GoWild
Yes, you can ski out of Las Vegas and Phoenix, and it is kind of hilarious.
Lee Canyon (from Las Vegas)
About 1 hour 6 minutes from LAS. Power Pass, unlimited. If you want a non-snow day while you are in Vegas, I have a guide to beginner sport climbing at Red Rock Canyon.
Brian Head Resort (from Las Vegas)
About 3 hours 49 minutes from LAS, in southern Utah. Power Pass, unlimited. Brian Head sits in the same corner of Utah as Zion and Bryce Canyon, so a snow and red rock trip is on the table. Here is my Bryce Canyon overnight trip and my Zion Narrows top down guide if you want to pair them.
Mountain High (from Ontario)
About 42 minutes from ONT to Wrightwood. Indy Pass (2 days) and Powder Alliance.
Snow Valley and Big Bear Mountain Resort (from Ontario)
Snow Valley is about 58 minutes from ONT, and Big Bear Lake is about 1 hour 13 minutes. Big Bear Mountain Resort runs Snow Valley, Snow Summit, and Bear Mountain. Ikon Pass, unlimited.
Arizona Snowbowl (from Phoenix)
About 2 hours 54 minutes from PHX, outside Flagstaff. Power Pass, unlimited.
Ski Apache (from El Paso)
About 3 hours 14 minutes from ELP, in New Mexico. Ski Apache sells its own season passes.
East Coast and Midwest Ski Resorts on GoWild
If you live out East, you can use GoWild to get to New England and the Poconos too. Here is what lines up with Frontier airports.

Plan Your GoWild Ski Trip
If you already did the GoWild national parks thing, this works the exact same way. Fly into the hub, rent a car, and stack a few mountains. Here is my Frontier GoWild national parks guide if you want to mix a park into your ski trip (Denver, Salt Lake, and Las Vegas are all great for that). Flying into Salt Lake? My Arches National Park guide covers what to do once you get there.

Frontier GoWild Ski Trip FAQ
Can you use the Frontier GoWild pass for ski trips?
Yes. The 2026 Frontier GoWild Fall and Winter Pass covers travel through February 28, 2027, and Frontier flies into ski gateway airports like Denver, Salt Lake City, Reno, Boise, Seattle, and Portland. Watch the blackout dates around Thanksgiving, the December holidays, MLK weekend, and Presidents Day weekend.
Can you bring skis on Frontier?
Yes. Frontier's FAQ says golf and ski gear are exempt from oversize fees, so your ski bag prices as a checked bag. The GoWild pass does not include bags.
When does the GoWild Fall and Winter Pass end?
February 28, 2027. For March and April skiing you would need the 2026-2027 GoWild annual pass, which runs through April 30, 2027.
Which Frontier airports are close to ski resorts?
Salt Lake City puts Alta, Snowbird, Park City, Solitude, and Brighton all under 50 minutes away. Mt. Rose is about 28 minutes from Reno and Afton Alps is about 31 minutes from Minneapolis if you want a quick one.
